Okay, so technically, the word vomitorium is used incorrectly here. The word actually refers to a wide hallway. This does not change the fact that Roman authors have written about purging, even if a room designated for such activities is suspect. In closing, those Romans had some serious parties. I mean they essentially had a God of Getting Hammered, what did you expect?
The difference is they backed it up with an incredible legacy of law, art and culture.
I get frustrated by any societal trend that encourages, nay, lauds ignorant and negative behavior. I think reality television, as a whole, is more susceptible to this. We can call it schadenfreude, or a guilty pleasure, but at its core it seems like a lot of negative energy.
Of course it did give us this, so I guess not all bad.
